Morris Triumphs on Good Friday

After being closed for a year Timmis Speedway in Mildura roared back into life on Good Friday as the final round of the 2022/23 Mainline Dynolog Dynamometers rolled into town. On a night that saw rather unseasonal cold weather, the racing on track was hot with young Talented South Australian Ben Morris taking the win. Steve Caruso picked up another podium this season in second with Ricky Maiolo making it an all South Aussie Podium.
Chris Solomon led the field to green with Heath Hunter Hire Quick Time winner Maiolo joining him on the front row. It was an all Caruso second row with newly crowned Australian Champion Mark Caruso joined by his brother Steve on the second row. The third row consisted of Morris and Brendan Quinn.
The first attempt at green saw Mark Caruso flip wildly in turn 1. At the resumption Solomon raced away to the lead with the battle for the minor spots on the podium heating up. 13 laps in and the red lights come on again with Lisa Walker and Dave Donegan flipping in turn 1. The resulting damage caused the tail tank of the S4 to come away spilling Methanol on the race track. With Officials and Fire Crews needing to clean it up resulting in a short delay.
At the resumption of hostilities Solomon lead the field away but the battle behind him was sensational with Caruso, Maiolo and Morris all taking turns at chasing down the leader. Tragedy would strike on lap 24 when Solomon whilst attempting to lap a back marker would tagged the main straight wall causing him to pull infield. The final 6 laps were uneventful with Morris taking the win ahead of Caruso and Maiolo.
Ryan Davis capped off a consistent night finishing 4th with TEH Hard Charger Steven Loader rounding out the top 5. Corey Sandow would follow with Brendan Quinn, Zac Farrer, Kane Newcombe Boyd Harris and Stacey Galliford rounding out the finishers.
Heat race wins went to – Farrer, Quinn, Charles Hunter, Rusty Hickman, Maiolo and Davis

Easter Locked In For Timmis

Official Release
Timmis Speedway Mildura launches back in to action this Easter on our traditional nights being Good Friday & Easter Sunday.
Once again the Australian Sprintcar Allstars Series will headline the event in what has become an Easter mainstay in recent years.
The Sprintcars will feature both nights & the action promises to be as hot as it’s ever been.
The club has been fortunate enough to secure some temporary stadium lighting making it possible to host the decorated event.
In saying that there is still a lot to be done before the cars hit the track. The committee its members & volunteers have been working tiersly to get the new catch fence erected & that is still an ongoing process. A number of important working bees will be held over the next 2 months to insure the complex is set to welcome everyone back again.
President Geoff Fell added “The support from our fans, competitors & members is what keeps us motivated & driving forward. We still haven’t been able to secure any form of government funding for our critical safety upgrades & it’s these people that have dipped into their own pockets to help us get back up & running again & we are forever great full for this support.”
Financial support so far has come from not only locals but from right across Australia, there have been a lot of business donating funds & pledging sponsorship. The club still has active fundraisers going including a Go-Fund me campaign, along with the ability to purchase a new catch fence post, Easter advertising packages & more.
The club is also planning to the run the annual “Ross Crick Memorial” event following Easter on Saturday April 22nd whilst we have the lighting infrastructure here for the Easter weekend. That will be followed by “Wind Back The Clock” Classic & Vintage meeting during the afternoon on Saturday May 6th in which more news will be released in the coming weeks.
Whilst this is all fantastic news we are still desperately seeking funding to re install a permanent lighting system so that we can back to weekly racing events moving into next season.
Tickets for Easter are now on sale at www.milduraspeedway.com or via the Eventbrite app or Website.

Timmis Speedway aims for Easter Sprintcars return

On December 7 a meeting was held by the members of Mildura Speedway Drivers Club in regards to the racing future at Timmis Speedway in Mildura.
Many things were discussed in what needs to happen for the club to move forward & go racing again.
A commitment has been made by the members to have cars on the track come Easter for the Easter Power Sports weekend being Good Friday & Easter Sunday for the 360 Sprintcar Easter Nationals incorporating the Australian Sprintcar Allstars Series Grand Finale + a whole host of other great classes that will feature over the two day event.
We need all hands on deck to help complete the ground works for the new catch fence next weekend December 17 & 18, with plans to erect the new fence very early in the New Year.
Multiple options are being investigated to enable Easter to be run including utilising temporary lighting.
We have some fundraising campaigns ongoing to assist with the cost of the new safety fence. A GoFundMe campaign running at the moment, along with the $1000 club.
A new initiative launched is the option to buy a catch fence pole, for $200 you can purchase a catch fence post to help complete the works. We have a way of recognizing these people moving forward which will be optional if you wish to remain anonymous.
You can purchase a post or donate via EFT (bank details on flyer), our online shop at https://mildura-speedway-drivers-club.square.site/ or via cash/EFTPOS at Enzed Mildura
On to our huge working bee next weekend, important days for our fence progress.
We kindly thanks those supporters, racers, fans, business that have donated so far, your money is helping us keep the dream alive.
